Apparently, Words these days used by the new generations are more of Abbreviations, actions figures, and less of actual words with proper meanings. It’s more of a habit due to laziness and easy texting. Nowadays communication is generally through mobile phones and emails, so, mostly used mediums are chat boxes and video calls.
This new way of communication has grown so vast that people started to spell out words in short or with emojis (figures that express emotions or any action). This kind of language formation has also extended it’s wings into other industries like music and movies too.
Let me elaborate it for you.
Usage of Abbreviations: Kids and teenagers nowadays are obsessed with communicative gadgets. And so they are even more addicted to texting all the time. While texting it makes it easier for them to type less and make things understand to the one reading. For example: TTYL, means “Talk to you later”, BAE, means “Beyond and After”, LOL, means “Laugh out Loud”, and many more. These kinds of languages appear like codes to our elders. Adults find it hard to accept and understand this messaging technique. One has to sit with them and give them a proper class on how these abbreviations work and when all can we use it.
Using Emojis: This technique is also used often while texting. They come along with words or just plain. Children use these emojis and other figures, like a simpler form of making the other person understand what we meant in terms of emotions, actions or signs. Nowadays there are wide varieties of emojis, starting from facial expressions to sign bord signs and more. Using these to an adult who has no idea what these are, will be like communicating with a ghost; because the message would not be properly received or understood.
It is not hard to teach an adult how to use emojis. With few trials they can catch up quickly.
The language used in Rap or Hip-hop music: Rap or Hip-hop was a simple form of music back when it was introduced. It was created to let people know more about discrimination over some communities. No foul language or incomplete line with abbreviations were used. However, see the rap music these days are filled with abusive, violent, incomplete and confusing words.
For young children it is a source of bad influence. This music and their meanings are never understood much by an adult. All they would notice is how much damage it could cause to a child’s life. It is always good for an adult to have an open mind to hear these kinds of music and understand the real message behind it.
As a conclusion, It is not a sin trying to understand these new forms of communicative techniques and music styles. It may help an adult to blend in well with this generation; even to get closer with their children.
