Good morning and a warm welcome to one and all present here. I feel honored for being part of today’s discussion which is; Is happiness a good measure of social progress? I remember a saying which I read on the internet which says “Sometimes your joy is the source of your smile, but sometimes your smile can be the source of your joy”, It tells how we can keep ourselves happy just by simply smiling.

How can this be relevant to our topic of discussion, Well I would say that a smile is simply contagious. If you just smile at a stranger on a bright morning wishing them “Good morning!”, it will create unknowing happiness in their heart which will help them to start the day on a positive note.

Life fulfillment has an intellectual segment, people need to venture back to evaluate their lives while satisfaction reflects positive and pessimistic feelings that vacillate. Now if we talk about social progress, It is the limit of the general public to meet the fundamental human requirements, set up the structure hinders that permit resident and networks to upgrade and support the nature of their lives and make the conditions for all people to arrive at their maximum capacity.

In simple words, it is how well being a person is, with all the basic requirements. Can Happiness contribute to how well being a person is? Well, it can be partially! Let us see an example of how this can be achieved. What are the basic needs of a human being, able to have three meals per day, have a roof over ahead, and have clothes to cover? Any person who has these three needs fulfilled is the happiest. 

Having spoken about the basic needs, it does not end there, One is not satisfied even after getting needs fulfilled, once a need is achieved, a person starts to search for happiness in another need and this goes on. Happiness cannot be measured.
