A Speech on How to Construct an Argument

Hello and good morning to everyone. I am very happy to have the opportunity to offer my speech

Arguments are based on logic which can sway others toward your opinions. Various ideas of your academic, professional, and personal life will be able to help you to be able to make a strong logical argument. Uses of some well-researched thesis, good formula, and statements free of errors will help you win arguments and gain supporters.

At first select your thesis properly. Your thesis is the theory or main topic which you’re attempting to prove. Choose a theory that is debatable, and be as specific as possible.

After that you have to try to find reliable sources that can support your thesis properly. Find and study books and journals that relate to your research. You can also do your research online, but you’ll need to be careful about the sites you’re watching.

Work to find reliable sources that support the counterargument as well. Always research an opposing viewpoint so that you can be prepared for the arguments someone else can make against your thesis.

After that it will be time to introduce your argument. Start with a good introduction that explains about your argument. The introduction will include the summary of the thesis, and it will provide a preview about how you are going to prove it.

Next you have to start with your strongest evidence. Begin with your most interesting and appealing piece of evidence in order to convince others about your viewpoint as quickly as possible.

Always make deductive or inductive reasoning. This is the road you have to take to reach your conclusion. With deductive reasoning, you can start the argument with generalizations and then try to make a specific conclusion. With inductive reasoning, you can follow the opposite process.

Then comes the step of determine the validity and soundness. A valid argument is the one in which, if all premises are true, then the conclusion have to be true. But on the other hand, soundness refers to whether the premises are actually true.

After that, you should state your argument or end it in a conclusion. You can conclude your argument by again giving a summary about your main evidence and how it proved your premise.

One should refrain from hasty generalizations. These are claims, which are made without any sufficient evidence. Don’t rush to judgment without realizing and showing all the facts clearly.

Always be careful of circular arguments. This is when you repeat an argument again while in trying to prove a claim.

Try to refrain from begging the claim. This is the time when you want something as to support for the claim. It’s kind of similar to the circular argument, though it may use other form of language, something showing prejudice.

Always be careful about not harming a person’s character rather than their arguments on certain issues. Remember that a person’s character is unrelated to the issue.

The conclusion should basically restate your original topic.

In this way we will definitely able to build a perfect argument by you.

Thank you very much.
