Sukkot (Festival of Tabernacles) is a week-long, biblical Jewish Holiday that is celebrated from the 15th day of the seventh month, Tishrei (varies from late September to early October) till the 21st day of Tishrei.
It is also known as Chang HaAsif (Festival of Ingathering). Sukkot in Hebrew means booths or huts in which the Jews supposedly dwell in this weeklong celebration.
Sukkot is one of the three great pilgrimage festivals of the Jewish year which is said to represent the flimsy Sukkot huts in which Israelites dwelt for 40 years while wandering in the deserts after escaping slavery from Egypt.
