At first we all have to know about the term foreign policy. A foreign policy is the sum of some general objectives that has the ability to guide the activities and various relationships of one state in its communication with the other states. The development of the foreign policy is inspired by some domestic ideologies, the policies or behavior of other states, or some plans to advance some specific geopolitical designs. Diplomacy can be regarded as one of the important tools of foreign policy.

In many cases, diplomats are being sent to represent a country’s foreign policy interests at many international events.

The foreign policy of a country consists of the strategies which it uses to protect its international and domestic dealings and determines the way by which it can interact with other state and some non-state actors. The main purpose of the foreign policy of a country is to defend a nation’s national interests, which can be in both the nonviolent or violent ways.

Foreign policy contains the tactics and process by which a nation can have the power to interact with other nations in order to improve its own situation.

Foreign policy also have the ability to use diplomacy or other more direct ways such as aggression deeply rooted in military power.

Some international bodies such as the United Nations and its other predecessors like, the League of Nations, can help in the smooth relations between the countries via some specific diplomatic means.

Major foreign policy theories can be found, some of them are Realism, Liberalism, Economic Structuralism, Psychological Theory, and Constructivism.

In the year 2013 China had developed a foreign policy called as the Belt and Road Initiative, the nation’s strategy was to develop stronger economic ties in the places of Africa, Europe, and North America. In the United States, many presidents are also widely known for their strong foreign policy decisions such as the Monroe  Doctrine which are opposite of  the imperialist takeover of an independent  and strong state. A foreign policy can also help in taking decision to not participate in some international organizations and conversations, such as the more isolationist policies of the country North Korea.

The United States pursues its some important foreign policy goals through some different foreign policy types, or some distinct substantive areas of foreign policy in which the country is engaged. Some of those types can be trade, diplomacy, sanctions, defense, intelligence, foreign aid, and also some global environmental policy.

The size of a state is a very important factor of the Foreign Policy. The size of a state influences the psychological and operational environment within which the policy-makers and public offers their responses.  On the other hand, the geographical condition of a state is the most permanent and stable factor in establishing its foreign Policy.

The topography of a specific land, its nature, climate and location are the main geographic factors which has the ability to influence the Foreign Policy of a nation. One of the main reasons why the US Foreign Policy has been very successful in many cases in the process in securing its national objectives.
